Ode to a lamppost that got accidentally destroyed in the enthusiastic widening of canal bank road, was installed at Pioneer book House, for Karachi Biennale 2017. The site and the sculpture within, collaborate to form a complex palimpsest of Karachi’s simultaneous and perpetual growth and decline. The fallen lamppost flickers for life, the site of the bookshop, equally worn, gives sanctuary but also illuminates the slow passing of time and anxiety of the city and the moment.
