Karamat sahab is a small bread seller in Cantonement, Lahore. The bakery was run by his father, originally part of the British Army mess since 1917, until he died in 2008. The text is based on incomplete and flexible facts culled from conversations I had with Karamat sahab in the few minutes we talked while exchanging a loaf of bread between the years 2013-2015.
